Rediscovering DotA

April 4, 2008

DotA, short for Defense of the Ancients Allstars, is an insanely addicting custom map made for Warcraft 3. Well, it used to be before the noobs/ griefers invaded. I had long since left the DotA scene, and haven’t played it for years. So, when I came across my WC3 installation as I was cleaning out my hard drive I decided to give it a go; just for the sake of nostalgia.

I downloaded the patches + the latest version of DotA, got on Azeroth and joined a pubby (public game). Very quickly I started getting addicted again. It was great fun using the new heroes, and “GODLIKE!!” blaring out of your speakers.

There were noticably less leavers/griefers when I played. It was a lot more fun, that’s for sure. Probably because of the nostalgia factor, but still. Four hours later I had to be pried from the keyboard by my roommate :). If you have WC3, go here for the download.
